It’s still Christmas and I’ve picked up my sister and her boyfriend Johan at the train station. They went for a one night trip to Copenhagen, which is ironic, since I live so much closer to Copenhagen and still don’t go there much. It’s almost too close.
So, it’s late and my sister has gone to bed. Me and Johan catch The Fellowship of The Ring on TV and amuse ourselves by comparing the quality of the movie when we switch to the same film (and scene) on DVD.
Soon Johan is asleep on the couch, tired from the trip. I haven’t got my sketchbook with me, but I get an idea and an itch to use a pen. I grab whatever material I can find and draw this little sequence on an envelope:

It’s not a part of the overall story, just a little something on the side. I might even develop this sequence into a short story, and draw it as a sort of appetiser before the main course.
In that case, I would make some adjustments: For example, the first image should introduce the character and environment better. And there’s no ending here, just a beginning. I want something to happen while he’s flying around. I’ve jotted down a few ideas in text in the bottom, since I ran out of envelope.
This idea is little like Dumbo meets Icarus. And that’s not a bad marriage. I like those guys, and I think they would looove each other.
